Welcome 2018

Hi All,

Happy New Year to you!

So a new year is always a fresh start, forget about the bad and focus on the positives and what amazing things you want to achieve in the year ahead.

For me 2017 had some amazing highs, but on a whole I had an extremely tough year, I am lucky to have an amazing support system so I have always got through things with a smile on my face.

For me 2018 is to continue on and fight for the things that didn’t work out last year, I could’t possibly do more to achieve what I want, so I simply have to do the same and keep going even when it’s hard.

I think this year I really want to cook more, I always cook from scratch and I enjoy it but sometimes you just don’t know what to cook, you get into a food rut, so this year I want to be a bit more adventurous with my cooking, along with that I want to try and be a bit healthier, I’m not going to make any ridiculous weight and health goal that I will fail with by tomorrow, but in general this year I’d like to be healthier.

As you can tell I’m not one for crazy new years resolutions and whether you’re like me or you have a concise list you work your way through each year, just do you, be as positive and kind to yourself and others as you can be, try push yourself out of your comfort zone every now and then and just enjoy the good times, and survive the bad times, and know that it always gets better.

I hope you all have an amazing 2018, you achieve everything you want this year and above all else be happy.

I will be posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from today onward, so I look forward to interacting with you all this year.

Happiness Journal

Hi All,

Sunday is a bit of a gloomy day for a lot of people, the thoughts of a week ahead, the busy lives we live sometimes get on top of us, so I thought I’d share a little habit I have that might help some of you.

I want to talk about keeping a “Happiness Journal” this is something that has become a bit of a trend recently and one I can definitely get on board with.

I went to college to train as counsellor and psychotherapist and in one of my first weeks one of our lecturers suggested we keep a journal of our positive and happy thoughts, something I did for years after that and still do today.

You can make this journal whatever you want it to be, if its just daydreams, or things happening in your life currently or upcoming events or whatever… make it a place where there are only positive and happy ramblings from you and keep it for only you.

My journal has always consisted of a mix of things, here are a few suggestions:

  • Ambitions
  • Daydreams
  • Compliments you’ve received
  • Upcoming events
  • Happy memories
  • Accomplishments
  • Song lyrics
  • Fun things you’ve done
  • Friends and family news

These are just a few things you can write about to get you started but I basically suggest you have some sort of note book that you can access easily throughout your day and anything that brings a smile to your face or makes you just feel that little bit happier then write it down, this will completely vary for each person but the more you do it the more happy things you find in the world around you, and that can’t be a bad thing right? I know some people won’t want to carry a journal with them constantly but try write in it each morning and night and if you need to take note of something to remember then put it in your phone.

IMG_20170624_202804_642I’ve become quite lax with mine, but I am going to try and write in mine as much as I can going forward, The reason this is suggested is because it makes you appreciate the little things in life and that we are probably a lot more content then we realise. On a bad day I like to flick through mine and remember some of the things that make me happy, and it grounds me and lets me look forward to the happy things I’m looking forward to…. I know it sounds a bit bizarre to some people, but positive mental health is so important and this really helps to keep your min in a positive space, so simple but effective.
