NYX Total Control Drop Foundation

Hi all,

So today I’m going to give you some of my thoughts on this NYX foundation. It launched earlier this year and everyone was talking about it, I thought I’d give it a go because the pales shade was so fair…. and it really is a perfect match for me, VERY fair, so that was a plus straight away.

I’ve used this a lot over the last few months and I have a solid grasp of my feelings on it. So… it says 1 drop is light coverage, 2 is medium and 3+ is full … now there is no way you could use only 3 drops even six isn’t going to give you full coverage, I definitely need to pack on some concealer if I wear this foundation alone. So if I put on this foundation I have found a brush is best, a beauty blender soaks up way too much product because it is so watery. I would say I use 6+ drops to cover my face and focus more product on my areas that need a bit more coverage, but I do need concealer with this, it doesn’t build enough to cover imperfections properly. The colour match is lovely, although it does oxidise slightly but not too much to be a problem or change the shade to being too dark on me. I do have an oily T-zone and this foundation just doesn’t last with it, I’ve tried my primers and setting sprays that normally work for me and my skin and they don’t help enough, it just doesn’t last the same.Β IMG_20170907_211833_153

The best way this works for me is as a mixer, some of my foundations that last really well on my skin are also my foundations that are a little too thick and a little too dark, so this water like consistency of this and the fact it is so pale works amazing with some of my heavy duty foundations and it hasn’t affected the staying power or finish of them on my skin to the point of me noticing. I actually use this a lot as a mixer so I don’t feel it was a waste to buy for me because it’s so versatile. The shade range in this foundation is pretty good too, it goes from very fair to quite a deep shade, so whether it suits your skin type and desired coverage needs or you need a shade to mix with some other foundations, you will definitely find a shade to suit you.

I would just advise anyone buying this to think about your skin type first, if you’re oily it may not last very long, and if you need a lot of coverage you’ll use a lot of product and probably still need a full coverage concealer, but if your skin is a bit drier and needs less coverage this could be amazing for you. But if you are looking for a lightener or darkener I’d maybe give these a go instead, I use this over some of my lighteners that I have been using for years.

I hope this has helped anyone interested and as always let me know if you’ve tried it or have any suggestions for me.

Back soon,

Sinead xx

  1. I really enjoyed this post πŸ™‚ I’ve been wanting to try this, but I do have oily skin. Also saying 2 drops is going to give medium coverage is a a bit skeptical. I would probably does 2 drops on half of my face hahaha
