I hope you are all doing good this week!
So as you’ve guessed by the title today I’m going to share how I correct and cover my dark circles when they are just so noticeable even with a full coverage concealer.
I put on my base first, at the moment I’m using Revlon Color Stay and I only put a very light layer near my eyes because I’m going to be using other products so I don’t want too much heaviness under the eye. Then I do 3 steps; correct, conceal and brighten.
I first colour correct, I use the NYX Professional Make Up Dark Circle Concealer in the shade fair. This comes in various shades of a peachy orange colour, it is a colour corrector that cancels out the blue/purple under the eye. I find this works best for me when I put a tiny bit on my finger and tap it into the skin under my eye focusing on the darkest part. I usually grab my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge that I apply my foundation with and I just blend out the edges so it looks perfect. A lot of people just use this product along with foundation and it works for them so if you find this looks good on you then stop now.
I then use a little concealer, I’ve been using the old reliable Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the lightest shade because its just a great full coverage concealer. As I’m using this on any other blemishes on my face I put a few dabs under each eye and tap it in with my sponge again and it hides the last of any discolouration etc.
This is a step you really don’t have to do, This is actually colour correcting again, lavender is meant to brighten dull parts of the face, or highlight what you want to bring out as well. I enjoy it because I am very fair so it really helps to lighten the under eye area for me. I use the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in the lavender shade, again I put maybe 3 dabs under each eye and tap it in with my sponge util the colour disappears and I have lovely bright under eyes with no dark circles.
Depending on how bad your dark circles are will depend on what steps you want to do to make them disappear, I don’t do this every day, but I do when they are bad. When I don’t do this full routine I will generally leave out the first colour correcting step and just use my normal concealer and the NYX lavender concealer and this works really well too. Remember to use a light hand with each product as you don’t want to overload your under eye because that might be actually worse looking then dark circles.
I always have to set my under eye to prevent creasing so as soon as I’ve tapped in the products and they are blended nicely I quickly go in with my setting powder, at the moment I am enjoying the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, I put a bit in the lid and tap my brush in and just pat it under the eye and I’m done, I can then finish the rest of my face.
I hope this has helped a little, someone asked me in my DM’s on Instagram about covering dark circles and I thought I’d post about it because it is something I’ve had to figure out over the years because I am an awful sleeper so dark circles are a constant annoyance for me.
