So I am as pale as pale can be, I literally don’t have any pigment so I truly am very fair.
As a teenager I found it so hard to find make up, in particular foundation, concealer and bronzer that I could use without looking like m face was totally different to my body… which believe me did happen and I cringe at the thought. But over the years I’ve tried out a lot of different products and got so many tips online and had a good root around boots and pharmacies and found some really great products.
I have been using the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30/PA+++ It is a white primer cream and is quite moisturising going on the skin, I have tried so many face creams and moisturisers with a good SPF and I find this the best, I am very fussy about the texture but this is so smooth and doesn’t feel like it is clogging up my pores. I have combination skin and find it works well for me and does keep my make up on longer for a long day or night. My favourite thing about this is the SPF, I take my skin health and protection quite seriously as I am so fair and it is so important for us all to have a good SPF on every day of the year.
Once your primer is on your base is the most important part to a good make up look, I love the formula of MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, I get this in NC15, which is slightly dark for my skin, but I like to have one foundation for if I decide to have tan on it works well with both, I only ever go very light on tan. So to lighten this up, I use the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer along with the foundation, I do 2 pumps of each and mix them on my hand or a palette, this does dilute the coverage slightly of the foundation but the Lumi primer is amazing to give you such a good glow and makes you look so healthy and natural. I always use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend foundation into the skin. I do put on some Translucent powder to lock in my base and prevent oil in the T-zone but still has a healthy glow to the base.
As I said the Mac foundation coverage is diluted from the Lumi primer I find a good concealer is a must but concealer is one of the hardest things to find as an extremely pale person. To conceal any imperfections I use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade 1 Fair, this is brilliant at concealing blemishes and dark circles but it is not pale enough to create a highlight for me. During the day I do like to highlight a little with the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Concealer Creme in the colour White Out, this is a pure white concealer, during the day I only put a little under my eyes and at the high point of my cheek bones but for a more polished look Ill add a little to my cupids bow, centre of my forehead and chin and it is amazing and again I use my Real Techniques Sponge for a flawless finish.
Highlight and Contour
To bronze up the skin a little I use Rimmel Sun Shimmer Compact Powder in Light Matte, with a very light hand I add a little warmth to my face and neck which is enough for a subtle look. Then to contour my favourite has been the NYX Cosmetics matte blush in the shade Taupe, this is a cool toned brown which is perfect for creating shadows on the face, again I use a very light hand and a natural hair brush so I don’t pack on too much product but its build-able for night time as well. To highlight recently I have been using the Highlighter Kit by SOSU by Suzanne Jackson, there are 6 colours in this palette and although they seem kind of odd colours or a little dark for me, on the skin they look just perfect for day and night.
Hoping this has inspired some other pale skinned beauties out there and if you’re looking to purchase you can find all available online and in stores across Ireland and the UK.
